Outside Scholarships

Ashland University intends to give students who receive an outside scholarship the maximum benefit possible. Students are required to report to the Financial Aid Office, in writing, the name of the scholarship and the amount awarded for each academic year as soon as the student becomes aware of his/her eligibility for the outside award. The outside grant or scholarship will be added to the other aid the student is entitled to, as long as total financial aid does not exceed a student’s need or cost of attendance.

Your outside scholarship search for the following academic year should start in the fall. Some helpful websites for national scholarship searches are www.finaid.org, www.fastweb.com and www.collegeboard.com. You should also check with your hometown’s Chamber of Commerce, Education Foundations, City Hall or even with your high school’s guidance counselor to learn about local sources of funding. Below is a list of outside scholarship sources that have been sent to Ashland University to disseminate to our students.

There’s a saying that goes “Life is a journey, not a destination.”  That is, we’re shaped by the journeys that we embark on more so than where we actually end up, with both our past and future journeys shaping the choices that we make today.

At Signal, we use marketing and technology data to help our clients’ businesses map and improve their customers’ journey, rather than just focusing on the bottom line of what they bought at a store. And as you begin your college journey, we want to hear about what in your past has led you to this path, and what you think your college journey will mean for your future.

To help facilitate your college path in technology, marketing, and/or entrepreneurship, Signal is pleased to offer two undergraduate students in these fields a scholarship prize. The winner will receive $1,500, and the runner-up will receive $500 to use towards your college education journey as you study technology, marketing, and/or entrepreneurship.

To apply for our scholarship, please write a 500+ word essay detailing the legs of your journey, so to speak. How has your life up until now prepared you for college? How do you think college will change your future path? Are there any roadblocks you’ve had to overcome, and if so, how did they affect your journey? Looking further down the line, how will college prepare you for the journey towards your desired career?

Feeling creative? Take a photo or create a slideshow that shows how your journey has shaped you- it’s not required, but these extra efforts are more likely to catch our eye when we’re choosing our scholarship winners!

Submit your essay and any accompanying image files to scholarship@signal.co with the subject line “Signal Scholarship Entry.” Signal’s team will choose the winners after the deadline and announce them on The Beacon blog.  No payment or purchase required to entry

TicketCity loves college sports. From the first tailgate party of football season to the final round of March Madness, we can’t get enough of it. Focus is almost always on the student-athletes, but we know it wouldn’t be the same without the support of the student-fans. Every school has its own unique traditions and we want to hear why those traditions are so special to you.

This is why we created the TicketCity Annual College Scholarship Program. We want to thank the students for turning an ordinary game into a tradition-rich, high-energy event that will be remembered forever. All you have to do is write an essay about something you already love, the college sports experience and earn $2,500 to help pay for school.

Choose from one of the 3 essay subject options below and write a 500 – 800 work essay. The essay doesn’t have to be too formal – we want to hear your voice! Write something funny, something sentimental, talk about your game day traditions or whatever feels right to you. You’ll need to include a picture or video that supplements your essay. Be creative! We want your essays, pictures and videos to reflect the excitement you feel from the event you write about. All pictures and videos need to be appropriate, so please keep the content family-friendly.

Essay Subject Options
  • Describe why sporting events are important to the culture of a university.
  • What college sporting event has had a major impact on your life and why?
  • What is your favorite game-day tradition at your University and why?

Once all essays are received, our panel of sports fans at TicketCity will review them to determine our winner. We’ll select one entrant to receive $2,500 to go toward any academic needs he or she may have. We’ll also feature the winner’s essay and picture or video on our site. The scholarship essay submission deadline is December 1, 2014.

If you have any questions or problems with the application below, you may contact scholarship@ticketcity.com for help.
