5/8/12 ASHLAND, Ohio -- Ashland Theological Seminary will confer 190 degrees to the 189 members of 2012 graduate class at the commencement ceremony to be held Saturday, June 2, at 10 a.m. in the John C. Myers Convocation Center on the Ashland University campus.
Leith Anderson, president of the National Association of Evangelicals headquartered in Washington, D.C., holding this office since 2006, will deliver the commencement address titled “"After a long time.”
Anderson has many interests including pasturing, teaching, writing, speaking, and leadership. He is the pastor emeritus of Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie, Minnesota where he served as senior pastor from 1977 through 2011. This church serves as a teaching and laboratory church to others across the nation as well as ministers to thousands in metropolitan Minneapolis.
He has traveled to all seven continents to speak at conferences and has been interviewed and quoted by many publications and broadcasts. These publications and broadcasts consist of The New York Times, Washington Post, Newsweek, PBS, the BBC, NBC Nightly News, National Public Radio, CNN and others.
Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois is where Anderson received his Bachelors in sociology. He then proceeded to get his Master of Divinity at the Denver Seminary in Denver, Colorado. After completing his studies there, he went on to the Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California where he received his Doctor of Ministry.
Anderson has many articles that have been published in many periodicals and he has written or coauthored twenty books including “Dying For Change”, “A Church For The Twenty-First Century”, “Winning The Values War”, “Praying To The God You Can Trust”, “Leadership That Works”, “Becoming Friends With God”, “JESUS: An Intimate Portrait of the Man”,” His Land, and His People,” “How to Act Like a Christian”, “The Jesus Revolution” and “Faith Matters.”
Anderson has known his wife, Charleen Anderson for all of his life and has been married to her for most of his life. They have four children and live in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
The degrees to be conferred at the seminary include doctor of ministry; master of divinity; master of arts in clinical counseling; master of arts in counseling; master of arts in religion; master of arts in practical theology; master of arts in biblical, historical and theological studies; master of arts in pastoral counseling; diploma of theology in black church studies; diploma of theology in Hispanic studies; diploma of practical ministry and diploma of Christian studies.
