2/17/15 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland Theological Seminary is offering a spiritual renewal day in Cleveland on Saturday, March 21.
The day is built upon the seminary’s spring semester class, "History and Literature of Christian Spirituality," led by the Rev. Tom Snyder, an adjunct faculty member at ATS. Alumni and members of the community are invited to share in the learning and formational activities of the day.
"I envision this day as a balance of formation and information, inviting each participant to new learnings through images, ideas and spiritual practices to inform and strengthen our spiritual journeys," Snyder said.
The day will begin at 10 a.m. at the Cleveland Museum of Art located at 11150 East Boulevard, Cleveland, OH 44106, with guided tours and spiritual exercises based on works of Christian art through the ages. Lunch, which is not included in the registration fee, will be held at 11:45 a.m. in the Museum Café in the Atrium.
The group will reconvene across the street at 1 p.m. at University Circle United Methodist Church, an historic architectural landmark, for an afternoon of spiritual formation opportunities. These will include an introduction to and walking the labyrinth; the exploration of sacred space; photography and sacred spaces; spiritual writing inspired by sacred images; and a closing Eucharist.
Transportation will be available from Ashland.
The cost for the day is $15 per person and those interested in registering or wanting more information can visit: https://christianspiritualityretreatday.eventbrite.com.
