Ashland University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences' Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program Receives Full 10-Year Accreditation

5/30/18 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University’s Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences received word from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) last week that the College’s undergraduate nursing program has met all standards and received a full 10-year accreditation for its baccalaureate degree program in nursing.

“It gives me great pleasure to report that we have met all standards with no compliance concerns with respect to the key elements,” said Dr. Faye Grund, dean of AU’s Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences. “I want to thank and praise our faculty and staff for their dedication and service to the nursing programs. Their diligence continues to lead us toward great outcomes.”

Grund said the CCNE Board of Commissioners determined that AU’s program met all four accreditation standards.

“The accreditation action is effective as of Nov. 8, 2017, which was the first day of the program’s CCNE on-site accreditation review of AU’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program,” Grund said. “The next on-site evaluation will take place in the fall of 2027.”

According to Grund, the Ashland University Nursing Program prepared a self-study document that was submitted to the CCNE for review prior to the visit. In accordance with CCNE accreditation procedures, program constituents and other interested parties were invited to submit comments prior to the evaluation.

Grund said she will be asking CCNE to do a complete site visit, aligning all programs for the upcoming DNP re-accreditation, which occurs on Nov. 16-18, 2020. “This will cover the BSN, MSN and DNP programs, and although this is more work for the faculty, it will align all programs to have the next site visit in 2030,” she said.
