Ashland University’s Student-Run Radio Station Holding ‘Vinylthon’

4/17/18 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University’s student-run radio station, 88.9-FM WRDL, will be holding a “Vinylthon” this weekend on Saturday, April 21.

“Similar to last year, WRDL will be playing 24 hours of nothing but vinyl records,” said Derek Wood, general manager of WRDL. “WRDL was one of 12 radio stations in the entire country to go 24 straight hours of vinyl music on that day last year and we are going to do the same again this year.”

Wood said “Vinylthon” is an event organized by those who help with the national College Radio Day event every fall.

“During Vinylthon each year, college radio stations broadcast special programs entirely with music played from vinyl records only. Some stations also broadcast a full 24 hours of nothing but vinyl music, including WRDL,” he said.

Wood said in addition to 88.9-FM and WRDLFM.com, those throughout the country can catch the latest from Ashland University's award-winning 88.9 WRDL on their mobile device or tablet.

WRDL, which is certified and recognized by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS), supports the academic mission of the Journalism and Digital Media program at Ashland University. Everyone heard on WRDL airwaves is an Ashland University student, and all of the content is student-produced with faculty guidance and input.
