Ashland University Campus Store Receives National Grant

ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University Campus Store received notice early this week that they were awarded a $1,000 Walmart LCC Grant.  Ashland University Campus Store has been applying and receiving similar grants from Walmart for the past 10 – 12 years.

Every Walmart has a local care giving committee that reviews applications and awards grants in varying monetary value.  Many of the grants cater towards education geared towards youth and literacy.  This program is specific for each local Walmart and shows how much the Ashland Area Walmart would like to give back to the community that they serve.

Terri Hudson, Director of the Ashland University Campus Store said, “We are excited to once again receive this grant.  It is only for one year and we must reapply each year.  This grant allows us to help fund our Children’s Programs through AU GIVS.  We do at least 6 programs per year and our audience continues to grow.  Not only does this help our youth and literacy community outreach program but it gives us the opportunity to hand out books as well, so that these children will become lovers of reading and learning throughout their lives.”
