9/3/10 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University Catering and Conferences Department was awarded the grand prize by the National Association of College and University Foods Services (NACUFS) for its entry in the category of catering standard menu in the annual Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards.
The award was presented at the NACUFS conference in San Jose, Calif.
"The criteria used to evaluate Catering and Conferences for grand prize included all the winners from each school size -- small, medium and large," said Jim Misel, Ashland University general manager for catering sales and marketing. "Six judges had the winners from every school size compete against each other to determine the grand prize winner."
Ashland University Executive Sous Chef Brent Cline went to the conference on behalf of Ashland University to accept this prominent award.
"It was an honor to receive the catering standard menu grand prize award acknowledging Ashland University's program as the best in the nation," Cline said. "This is the fourth time that Ashland University has won the grand prize. It is the second time Catering and Conferences has won the grand prize award."
Ashland University's Catering and Conferences Department services roughly 1,400 events per year that utilize the department's menu.
