4/11/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University's Department of Recreational Services will be hosting a Community Youth Basketball League during the summer months.
This indoor basketball league is for the youth of the Ashland community and its surrounding areas. The youth basketball league will provide middle school age students the opportunity to play competitive basketball, continue to develop their skills, enhance teamwork and team play, and ultimately have fun. Teams are encouraged to sign up as well as free agents looking to find a team.
The divisions are seventh grade boys and girls and eighth grade boys and girls. There is an eight team maximum for each division. The fee for each team is $250.
The Youth Basketball League runs from June 14 to July 27, with a sign up deadline of June 3. Games will be played Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 5 to 9 p.m. The league will be seven weeks of play with teams playing once a week. The season will conclude with the last week consisting of a playoff component.
The league will be held in Ashland University's Recreational Center on Gym Courts 1 and 2.
There will be a coaches meeting to establish rules, roster limitations, schedules and other important information prior to the first game of play. The meeting date is to be determined.
