3/1/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University’s Dr. Marian Maxfield, assistant professor of education, and Dr. Deanna Romano, associate professor of education, have published a chapter in the publication, “Pedagogical Applications and Social Effects of Mobile Technology Integration,” which has been released by IGI Global.
Maxfield and Romano contributed to the publication by writing the 23-page chapter titled “Videos with Mobile Technologies: Pre-Service Teacher Observations During the First Day of School.”
According to Maxfield and Romano, mobile technologies are becoming ubiquitous. They are used in everyday life to gather and analyze data, to synthesize information, and to solve problems. There is a growing need for pre-service teachers to learn how and when to implement mobile technologies so that they can assist 21st Century PK-12 students in meaningful and real world learning.
“This chapter discusses the increasing use of mobile technology within teacher education programs and the need to use multiple devices in ways that impact the teaching and learning processes in teacher preparation programs,” Maxfield said. “The research study focuses on the use of mobile technologies to video record pre-service teachers’ observations of the first day of school and examines the impact that peer review of videos has on learning new teaching concepts. Future application of these concepts is considered.”
“Pedagogical Applications and Social Effects of Mobile Technology Integration” analyzes possible solutions over the concerns and issues surrounding mobile technology integration into the classroom.
