Ashland University Highlights Successes of College of Nursing and Health Sciences

11/5/18 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University will be highlighting the successes of its College of Nursing and Health Sciences as part of the National Nursing and Health Professionals Week set for Nov. 5-9.

Ashland University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers undergraduate programs in the traditional BSN, Accelerated-Second Degree, Advanced Entry-Transfer Students, RN to BSN, Athletic Training, Dietetics and Exercise Science programs, where students receive intensive instruction through small class sizes and one-on-one attention from their professors. To further enhance the educational experience, students are able to participate in a Living Learning Community with peers studying within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

In the fall of 2012, a Simulation Center equipped with 32 Hill-rom beds and head-wall units, mirrored from a fully functioning hospital, was installed in the Dwight Schar College of Nursing, located in Mansfield, Ohio. The simulation lab provides students with hands-on experience in nursing skills and appropriate patient care to prepare them for their clinical experiences. Clinical experiences are offered in major hospitals within an 80-mile radius in Ohio, and students participate in rotations of acute care facilities, community agencies and long-term care.

Students are given professional research experience through semester-long research projects over cultural or global health-related studies and are encouraged to study abroad with fellow classmates. AU’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences also offers specific cultural immersion trips to the Dominican Republic and the Navajo Indian Reservation.

In addition to the undergraduate degree programs, Ashland University offers Graduate Programs online in Doctorate of Nursing Practice-Family Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice, Doctor of Nursing Practice-Health Systems Leadership, School Nurse Program, Nurse Educator Certificates and a Master of Science in Exercise Science.

Ashland University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences baccalaureate nursing program is accredited by the Ohio Board of Nursing (OBN) and AU’s online RN to BSN nursing program has been ranked as one of the top programs in the country by Best College Reviews.

Ashland University, ranked in the top tier of colleges and universities in U.S. News and World Report’s National Universities category for 2018, is a mid-sized, comprehensive private university conveniently located a short distance from Akron, Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio. Religiously affiliated with the Brethren Church, Ashland University (www.ashland.edu) deeply values the individual student and offers a unique educational experience that combines the challenge of strong, applied academic programs with a faculty and staff who build nurturing relationships with their students. ###
