6/2/15 ASHLAND, Ohio – More than 25 girls from local Daisy and Brownie scout troops participated in Ashland University’s Girl Scout Cooks Camp held in the John C. Myers Convocation Center on June 1.
After touring the Convocation Center kitchen facilities, the girls rotated through four work stations that included vegetable and herb identification, production of smoothies, energy bites, and fresh guacamole and chips.
The camp, which was facilitated by AU’s talented team of chefs, was a precursor to the
second annual Young Chef Camp that will be held in the Convocation Center kitchen this summer.
The Young Chef Camp takes place on July 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with instruction centered on baking basics - pies, cookies and breads; and July 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with instruction centered on Italian cuisine, fresh pasta and ravioli making along with a variety of specialty pizzas.
The camp is open for students ages 8 to 15, with the cost of the camp at $35 per person per event. Be sure to sign up today as limited space is available.
