Ashland University to Host Sibs & Kids Weekend Feb. 19-21

1/25/16 ASHLAND, Ohio -- Ashland University Student Senate and the Office of Residence Life will be hosting Sibs and Kids Weekend 2016 on Feb. 19-21. This will be an exciting time for siblings and friends of current students to come to campus and participate in numerous activities at the University.

This year’s theme for the event is "Jurashland Park.” The activities planned include a Reptile Show, a showing of the movies "The Good Dinosaur" (2015) and “The Land Before Time” (1988) , baking at Convo, a cornhole tournament, fun activities at the Recreation Center, a special visit from several characters from Star Wars, and many other activities sponsored by the residence halls and other campus organizations.

“We hope you will encourage your sibling(s) and friends to participate in this exciting weekend,” said Kim Lammers, director of Residence Life. “We look forward to having an enjoyable weekend filled with fun, laughter and sibling bonding. Registration fee for Sibs ‘N Kids 2016 is $15. If you have more than one child, the first child will be $15 and for each additional child the cost will be $10 per child.

The $15 cost includes:

·         A Sibs ‘N Kids T-shirt and bag of goodies

·         A day pass to the Recreation Center on Friday and Saturday

·         Baking in Convo (Space is limited, sign-up in person on Friday 2/20 when checking in)

·         Admittance to all Sibs and Kids-related activities all weekend long

The deadline for registration is Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016. Please email reslife@ashland.edu to register.

There are two pricing options depending on which meal plan the Ashland University student has and if the student will be using his or her guest meal swipes to allow the kids or sibs to eat in Convo or if meals for the kids or sibs will be included as part of the registration cost.

AU Students with Block Meal plans are able to swipe in kids/sibs/family members during this weekend. If the AU Student or freshman has the Unlimited Meal plan, they are unable to swipe in kids/sibs/family members and would be required to pay Convo pricing for meals. Lunch prices are regular $8.85 and $5.55 if your guest is between 4-10 years old. Dinner prices are regular $11.30 and $7.05 if your guest is between 4-10 years old. You are also able to go off campus as well and check out several restaurants around the Ashland area.

Any sib or kid wishing to use the Ashland University Recreation Center must complete the liability waiver form.  If the sib/kid is under age 16, the form must be signed by a parent/guardian. The form will also be available at registration on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016.
