Ashland University Nursing Program to Host Open House at Columbus Center

10/27/10 ASHLAND, OH -- The Ashland University Dwight Schar College of Nursing will host an open house for interested students and their parents as well as professional nurses looking to advance their careers at its Columbus Center on East Dublin-Granville Road.

The open house event, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. in the Columbus Center located at 1900 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. in Columbus. Those planning to attend the open house are asked to make reservations by calling Matthew Pound, admission representative, at 419.520.2631 or emailing him at mpound1@ashland.edu<mailto:mpound1@ashland.edu>.

"The nursing open house will be an informal event in which those in attendance can learn more about the number of options that are available to them through Ashland University's Dwight Schar College of Nursing," said Faye Grund, dean of the College. "Faculty and staff members will be in attendance to provide information and answer questions."

"Prospective students also will have the option of exploring the Dwight Schar College of Nursing's 15-month accelerated track, which is for students who have a bachelor's degree in a field other than nursing," Grund said. "There are immediate openings in the accelerated track, with no wait list for qualified students to begin the program in May of 2011."

Grund said the Dwight Schar College also offers an advanced entry track that is ideal for students who have invested time at another accredited college or university and are looking to transfer. These students will complete sophomore nursing coursework in the summer of 2011 and progress to junior status in the fall.

"And we also offer an RN to BSN track, which is for registered nurses who are looking to advance to a bachelor of science degree," she said.

Ashland University's RN to BSN track is now available as a totally online program. The online aspect provides convenience and ease of access for busy working professionals. Depending on coursework completed, the student may need to complete general education coursework on campus.
