11/24/15 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University’s Open House event on Saturday, Nov. 21, was the largest single undergraduate admissions visit event in recent history, with more than 600 prospective students and their parents attending the event.
“We are seeing a real spike in interest from prospective students and their parents throughout Ohio and surrounding states and we believe that is because people are realizing that Ashland offers a unique private educational experience with individual attention at a very affordable price,” said W.C. Vance, director of undergraduate admissions. “The AU Open Houses are an ideal opportunity for prospective students and their parents to meet our faculty and staff and gather information about the university, our academic programs and familiarize themselves with our extraordinary institution.”
Vance said a total of 198 prospective students attended Saturday’s event, which was a University record for a recruitment event. “We had 252 prospective students registered to attend on Saturday, so we had more than 78 percent show up for the event, which also was a university record for an Open House,” he said.
Vance noted that the event drew families from across the country, including those from as far west as San Diego, as far south as Florida, as far east as Connecticut and as far north as Michigan.
Saturday’s event was the University’s second such Open House event this fall.
