11/10/15 ASHLAND, Ohio – AU G.I.V.S., which stands for Ashland University Gets Involved with Volunteer Service, is partnering with Park Street Brethren Church, Five Stones Community Church and Substance Church to hold an event to allow local families to shop for free Christmas gifts.
The event, titled Freebay, is set for Saturday, Dec. 5, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Park Street Brethren Church in Ashland. The event is free and open to the public.
“This event will allow for those in need to come and shop for free Christmas gifts for their families,” said Jennifer Washock, director of orientation and community service at AU. “Freebay will feature a wide variety of items that will be available to families, including new and gently used clothes, toys and household items.”
Washock said the churches have held this event in past years and noted this is the first time that AU has partnered with the churches. She noted that the churches have collected items for the event.
Washock said the event will include a complimentary breakfast and/or lunch, a gift wrapping station and a child care room that will allow parents to shop without their children seeing Santa’s gifts early. She noted that Papa John's has joined as a sponsor of the event.
Anyone with questions regarding the event can contact Paul Lattimer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
