9/2/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Dr. David Vanata, RD, LD, who is director of dietetics and associate professor in the Family and Consumer Sciences Department, Foods and Nutrition, at Ashland University, has received board certification as a specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD).
This credential requires current registered dietitian status, documentation of at least 1,500 sports specialty practice hours within the last five years and successful passing of an examination issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association.
Dr. Vanata provides nutrition counseling sessions for University and community athletes focusing on areas such as improving performance, weight gain or loss, and other areas where nutrition is of concern.
Dr. Vanata, a resident of Wooster, is a registered dietitian (R.D.) and licensed in the state of Ohio. He has been involved in nutrition counseling for the last 15 years and works with individuals such as athletes, children and adults who have nutritional concerns involving athletic performance, obesity, chronic illnesses, academic performance, and many other areas. Dr. Vanata's research interests involve nutrition and cognition, community nutrition interventions, and nutrition and athletic performance.
