Ashland University Professor's Book Wins Silver Medal

10/27/11 ASHLAND, OH -- "Curious Critters," an environmental children's picture book by Ashland University's Associate Professor of English Dr. David FitzSimmons has just been awarded a silver medal in the prestigious Moonbeam Children's Book Awards.

"Curious Critters," featuring stunning images of common North American animals photographed against white backgrounds-animals ranging from butterflies and beetles to turtles and birds-won silver among all non-fiction picture book entries.

The Moonbeam Children's Book Awards is an annual competition that recognizes outstanding children's books and their authors and illustrators. The Moonbeam competition encourages and celebrates life-long reading. Judges include educators, librarians, booksellers, and book reviewers.
