Ashland University Receives Commitment for $1 Million Estate Gift

4/13/16 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University has received a $1 million anonymous estate gift that will be made to the Ashland University Endowment Fund upon the passing of a well-known and well-respected Ashland couple.

While this anonymous gift will be used to strengthen the University’s endowment and help fund strategic priorities for Ashland well into the future, interest from the gift will be used to help fund student athletic scholarships.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, our faculty, staff and -- most importantly -- our students, we thank these two individuals for their remarkable gift to the University that will help our scholar-athletes from Ohio and beyond to come to AU and continue our tradition of excellence,” said AU President Dr. Carlos Campo. “The donor said the gift was prompted by ‘The clear vision and direction of the leadership team at Ashland University. We have been impressed by the young men and women who compete for AU, and by the way the Ashland campus has risen over this last year to define its commitment to excellence in and out of the classroom.’"

Dr. Campo said the University completely understands the couple’s desire to remain anonymous at this time and University leadership respects that. “Yet, they have allowed us to make a public announcement of this philanthropic effort so that it may inspire others to do the same,” he said.

“We are grateful for this gift, and the ongoing financial support we are receiving from alumni and friends of Ashland University. We are sensing a new vitality with our donors, which is a reflection of our outstanding faculty and staff at AU," Dr. Campo added.
