Bruce Hunter to Speak at Ashland University

3/7/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Bruce Hunter, one of the strongest advocates of public education in the halls of Congress and a nationally sought after speaker on national educational issues, will be speaking at Ashland University on Wednesday, March 20.

Hunter serves as associate executive director of The American Association of School Administrators, headquartered in Washington, D.C.

He will speak at 6 p.m. in the Ronk Lecture Hall in Ashland University’s Dwight Schar College of Education. The event, which is free and open to the public, is co-sponsored by AU’s Phi Delta Kappa.

According to event organizer Dr. Harold Wilson, professor of educational leadership, the event will center on the topic of federal plans for education. In describing what he would like to discuss at the public session, Hunter states, “Congress is uncertain about education. They aren’t clear about their role in education and uncertain as to how to provide funding to schools.”

Hunter also will speak to a group of school administrators on the morning of March 20.

Hunter has more than 20 years of experience working for the improvement of education. He has been on a first name basis with hundreds of Congressmen and Senators and is acknowledged to be one of the most effective voices speaking on behalf of students in the Capital.

Hunter is a former superintendent in his home state of Wyoming. He has had extensive experience in all aspects of educational policy and politics at the local, state and national levels.
