3/21/14 ASHLAND, Ohio – The College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Ashland University will hold an Ashland University Fit Fest on Saturday, April 12, at the Recreation Center located on the AU campus. This is the second year for this annual event.
The event, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., is co-sponsored by the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Hedstrom Fitness and ECS Billing & Consulting North. The College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers programs in nursing, exercise science, athletic training, dietetics and sports management.
“The event is free for everyone and open to students, faculty and the community,” said event director Matthew Lioi, a senior exercise science major from Canton. “There will be free giveaways including ones for anyone who pre-registers for an event.”
The event will include a 5k run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., a vendor fair from 12:30 to 4 p.m., a Mr. and Mrs. Fit Competition from 1 to 2 p.m., group exercise classes from 2 to 4 p.m., alcohol awareness Olympics from 4 to 5 p.m. and free health screenings.
The 5K race will begin at the arch located at College Avenue and Grant Street near the College of Arts and Sciences building. All of the others events will be held in the Recreation Center.
In addition to competing as an individual in the Mr. and Mrs. Fit competition, those competing can sign up as a team of up to five people and compete for the "Most Fit Organization" trophy.
