Dr. Deborah Sullivan Named AU Director of Campus Wellness

Dr. Deborah Sullivan Hired as AU Director of Campus Wellness

2/26/16 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland resident Dr. Deborah Sullivan has been named Director of Campus Wellness on the Ashland University campus and will provide overall leadership for the preparation, collaboration, advocacy and administration of the University’s wellness programs for students, faculty and staff.

This strategic hire will report to the Vice President of Student Affairs, and work to create a comprehensive health and wellness strategy for students, faculty and staff. The Director will coordinate facets of campus wellness to maintain a healthy, safe and supportive campus environment. The Director also contributes to the University’s on-going efforts to make community connections by networking and creating programming that includes the greater Ashland area to promote community health.

“Because our strategic plan emphasizes the importance of wellness, the University needed a strategic individual to ensure we are delivering on our commitment to health and wellness,” said AU President Dr. Carlos Campo. “Dr. Sullivan brings a wealth of expertise and personal experience, and will also collaborate with our internal resources from our Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences and many other health and wellness professionals who currently serve at Ashland University to create a measurable plan for continuous improvement in the areas of health and wellness.”

Sullivan, who joined Ashland University in 1983, served as chair of the Family and Consumer Sciences department for 16 years as well as professor in that academic area and later as a professor of health sciences.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Ashland University, a Master of Education degree from The Pennsylvania State University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from The Ohio State University.
