3/31/14 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University Theatre’s Drop of a Hat Players, a musical theatre revue troupe, presents its 2014 Spring Showcase on Saturday, April 5, at 2 p.m. in the Hugo Young Theatre in the Center for the Arts. Although the performance is free and open to the public, audience members are encouraged to reserve a free ticket through the Ashland University box office to guarantee a seat. From “Guys and Dolls” and “Annie Get Your Gun” to “Hairspray” and “Wicked,” the performance promises to cover more than 60 years of musical theatre gems. The students will perform 17 songs from classic and contemporary musical theatre productions.
Directed by Assistant Professor of Theatre Scott Hudson, performers for the showcase include seniors Kelsey Bowens, Emily Jeppesen, Kelli Lennox, Christian Neely, Jacob Poiner, Becca Ribley and Brandon Wurgess; sophomores Natalyn Baisden and Deric Dove, and freshmen Darion Dow and Eryn Tramel. Kelli Lennox serves as the organization's president and Kelsey Bowens is the choreographer.
Founded in the early 1990s as an outreach program for the Ashland University Theatre Department, the group provides a performance training opportunity for students as they perform throughout the year at banquets, meetings, parties, civic group engagements or other special events.
