Musical Theatre Revue Troupe Presents Annual Showcase Performance

4/1/15 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University Theatre’s Drop of a Hat Players, a musical theatre revue troupe, presents its 2015 Spring Showcase on Saturday, April 11, at 2 p.m. in the Hugo Young Theatre in the Center for the Arts. Although the performance is free and open to the public, audience members are encouraged to reserve a free ticket through the Ashland University box office to guarantee a seat. The box office is open 12 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and can be reached at 419.289.5125.

From “Pocahontas” and “Annie” to “Kiss Me, Kate” and “Legally Blonde,” the performance promises to cover more than 60 years of musical theatre gems. The students will perform songs from classic and contemporary musical theatre productions. 

Directed by Scott Hudson, assistant professor of Theatre, performers for the showcase include seniors Julie Bontempo (North Olmsted) and De'Andre Peterson (Garfield Heights); juniors Natalyn Baisden (Wooster), Deric Dove (Newark), and Fatima Imani Smith (Copley); sophomores Andrea Disch (East Liverpool) and Eryn Reynolds Tramel (Medina). Eryn Reynolds Tramel serves as the organization's president, Julie Bontempo is vice president and Deric Dove is the musical director. 

Founded in the early 1990s as an outreach program for the Ashland University Theatre Department, the group provides a performance training opportunity for students as they perform throughout the year at banquets, meetings, parties, civic group engagements or other special events.
