9/9/15 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University is once again ranked in the top 200 colleges and universities in the National Universities category of the recently released 2016 college rankings by U.S. News and World Report. The National Universities classification is restricted to universities offering doctoral programs and involved in research.
“I am very pleased that U.S. News & World Report has once again recognized Ashland University as one of the top national universities in the nation,” said Dr. Carlos Campo, president of Ashland University. “We believe this recognition is a reflection of the University’s continued commitment to providing its students with an impressive balance of educational, social and extracurricular activities.”
Campo said that Ashland takes seriously the responsibilities of teaching and learning. “Ashland works hard to create an environment that is truly both supportive and challenging, and the AU faculty are committed to helping students succeed and grow in every way possible,” he said.
Ashland University was one of only three private institutions in Ohio that were ranked in the top 200 in the National Universities category, the others being Case Western Reserve University and the University of Dayton. There were six Ohio public universities ranked in the top 200 -- Ohio State University, Miami University, Ohio University, University of Cincinnati and Bowling Green State University.
The U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges package represents a look at nearly 1,800 accredited four-year schools compared on a set of 16 widely accepted indicators of excellence. Among the many factors weighed in determining the rankings are: peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving, and graduation rate performance.
Ashland University, ranked in the top 200 colleges and universities in U.S. News and World Report’s National Universities category for 2016, is a mid-sized, private university conveniently located a short distance from Akron, Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio.
