Women’s Basketball Boasts Seventh-best Team GPA in Division II

7/15/15 ASHLAND, Ohio - Ashland University’s women’s basketball team had a big 2014-15 season off the court as well as on it, finishing in a tie for seventh in terms of team grade-point average in Division II.

The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) has released its 2015 Academic Team Honor Rolls, recognizing the women’s basketball teams that carry the highest combined GPA inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.

The Eagle women, who reached the Midwest Region championship game and finished 2014-15 with a 25-9 record, had a team GPA of 3.644.

“I am so proud of our team,” said Ashland head coach Robyn Fralick. “Commitment is the foundation of our program. Finishing seventh in the country for team GPA shows our team’s focused commitment in the classroom. This acknowledgement is a by-product of consistent hard work by an entire team.”

The 2014-15 academic year is the eighth consecutive year Ashland’s women have been in the Top 25 in the country in team GPA. The program’s GPA has gone up each of the last four years.
