4/21/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Margaret Pomfret, a resident of Wooster, has been promoted to associate vice president of institutional advancement/campaigns at Ashland University.
The promotion is part of the University's reorganization of the Office of Development, which has resulted in new leadership and several new development officers joining the University's development team.
"We have new leadership in this area and we have hired several new development officers and they are reaching out to alumni and friends of Ashland University," said Dr. Fred Finks, president of Ashland University.
Finks outlined the new structure of the Office of Development, which will be led by Ralph Tomassi, associate vice president of development, and Pomfret as associate vice president of institutional advancement/campaigns.
In this position, Pomfret will oversee the advancement areas including alumni, parents, grant records and campaigns.
A 1997 Ashland University graduate, Pomfret served as director of alumni and parent relations since 2001 and, in April of 2010, was named director of development and campaigns. She previously served as assistant director of alumni and as an admission representative for Ashland University.
In September of 2010, Pomfret was one of only 42 mid-level administrators in higher education nationwide selected by the Council of Independent Colleges and the American Academic Leadership Institute to participate in a year-long Senior Leadership Academy.
Individuals chosen for the program were mid-level administrators in higher education who aspire to senior leadership positions in independent colleges or universities. As a participant, Pomfret attended two seminars, one in the fall in Williamsburg, Va., and one in the spring in Washington, D.C. Pomfret participated in a mentoring program, experiential learning projects, and a series of readings and case studies.
Pomfret resides in Wooster with her husband, Tim, and their two children.
