4/4/16 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University’s Director of Auxiliary Services Matthew Portner was recently selected to serve on this year’s IndiCo Board and moderate a discussion at the second annual Textbook Affordability Conference. IndiCo is an independent subsidiary of National Association of College Stores (NACS), created to assist independent college stores.

The Textbook Affordability Conference of 2016 will be held April 27-29 at the University of California, Davis. Keynote speaker Adela de La Torre, the University of California’s vice chancellor of student affairs and campus diversity, will speak on the importance of student success at the conference.

Portner will moderate the panel titled, “Creating the All-Source Model: Where Content meets Commerce.” This session will include store directors who have engaged in open and/or affordable initiatives on their campuses.

The main objective of the conference is to help attendees of the event—librarians, IT directors, instructional designers, etc.—see the advantages of open and affordable tactics. The discussion also will assist stores in seeing their role in “free” content.
