Ashland University Lecture to Feature John Beckett

The Gordon E. Heffern Lecture on Christian Ethics in Business at Ashland University this year will feature a lecture by John D. Beckett, chairman of R.W. Beckett Corp. and author of the book, “Loving Monday: Succeeding in business without selling your soul.”

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held Wednesday, March 21, at noon in the John C. Myers Convocation Center on the AU campus. Ashland University and In His Steps Foundation are sponsoring the event, which is hosted by AU’s Richard and Sandra J. Dauch College of Business and Economics.

Ashland University Dauch College Offers Free Tax Preparation and Electronic Filing

Faculty and students in the Ashland University Dauch College of Business and Economics are offering free tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. The program is designed to assist in tax preparation for those who are eligible and allows for free e-file of federal and state returns.

“This is one more way in which the university fulfills its mission to serve our community and to allow our students to grow as scholars, professionals and human beings,” said Dr. Elad Granot, dean of the Dauch College of Business and Economics.

Ashland University Event to Focus on Cryptocurrencies

Ashland University’s Morgan Center for Entrepreneurial Studies is hosting an event that will feature Ben Wortman speaking on the topic of “Cryptocurrencies.” The event will be held Thursday, Feb. 8, from 4 to 5 p.m. in Room 115 of the Dauch College of Business and Economics on the AU campus.

Over the past few months, bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have been a trending topic in global news. It is also a topic that very few people fully understand. This event will provide those attending with a better understanding of the innovation that could change our modern economy, and explain what the hype is all about.

Ashland University Faculty Member Receives Promotion and Tenure

Ashland University faculty member Dr. Robert Stoll was promoted to associate professor of operations and supply chain management and granted tenure following the action of the Ashland University Board of Trustees at its winter meeting. The promotion is effective at the beginning of the institution’s 2018-2019 academic year.

Stoll, who joined Ashland University in 2012, serves as the chair of the Department of Management, International Business, Supply Chain Management and Entrepreneurship. He earned both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and a Ph.D. in operations and supply chain management from Cleveland State University.

Ashland University Online Programs Receive Recognition

Two of Ashland University’s online programs were recognized with high rankings in the prestigious U.S. News and World Report lists for Best Online Programs for 2018.

AU’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) Online Program was ranked as the second best online private program in Ohio and 131st ranked program nationally among the Best Online MBA Programs, while AU’s Online Bachelor’s Program was rated as the second best online private program in Ohio and the 153rd ranked program nationally among the Best Online Bachelor’s Programs.

Ashland University Team to Participate in National MBA Case Competition

A team of three MBA students from Ashland University has been selected to participate in the KeyBank MBA Minority Student Case Competition for 2018.

The AU students -- Kaneeka Dalton Paul of Columbus, Ohio; Andrea Shellow of Columbus, Ohio; and Abdallah Ibrahim of Amman, Jordan -- will participate in the 14th Annual KeyBank & Fisher College of Business Minority MBA Student Case Competition on Feb. 23-25, 2018, at the Westin Cleveland Downtown in Cleveland, Ohio.

Ashland University has scheduled an Israel Study Tour as part of its 1 Year International MBA Program. The March 1-10, 2018, Tour is being offered to AU students, veterans, alumni, friends and guests of the University.

Ashland University Faculty Member Passes Exam

Sue Mullen, who joined Ashland University in 2006 as an adjunct instructor and then joined the AU faculty as a professional instructor of Accounting and Information Systems in 2016, has passed her Certified in Strategy and Competitive Analysis (CSCA) Exam.

According to Mullen, the CSCA exam is a specialty credential designed specifically for certified management accountants that complements and expands upon the strategic planning and analysis skills developed through the Certified Management Accountants certification. She said this is the first time this CSCA exam has been given.

Ashland University’s Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurial Studies will host a presentation by H. Bert Lindsay, owner of Lindsay Automotive in Columbus, who will speak on “How I built one of the Largest Honda Dealerships in the United States (and everything you wanted to know about buying a car and didn't know who to ask).”

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Ridenour Room inside the Dauch College of Business and Economics.

Ashland University Online Program Ranks as One of the Best in U.S.

Ashland University's Online Associate’s in Business Administration degree program has been named by Best College Reviews as one of the top online associate’s degree programs in business in the country.
