Ashland University Faculty Member Passes Exam

Sue Mullen, who joined Ashland University in 2006 as an adjunct instructor and then joined the AU faculty as a professional instructor of Accounting and Information Systems in 2016, has passed her Certified in Strategy and Competitive Analysis (CSCA) Exam.

According to Mullen, the CSCA exam is a specialty credential designed specifically for certified management accountants that complements and expands upon the strategic planning and analysis skills developed through the Certified Management Accountants certification. She said this is the first time this CSCA exam has been given.

Ashland University Morgan Center to Host Speaker Event

Ashland University’s Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurial Studies will host a presentation by H. Bert Lindsay, owner of Lindsay Automotive in Columbus, who will speak on “How I built one of the Largest Honda Dealerships in the United States (and everything you wanted to know about buying a car and didn't know who to ask).”

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Ridenour Room inside the Dauch College of Business and Economics.

Ashland University's Online Associate’s in Business Administration degree program has been named by Best College Reviews as one of the top online associate’s degree programs in business in the country.

This Best College Reviews ranking was compiled using data from College Navigator regarding tuition, as well as program information gleaned from each institution’s website. The methodology used to determine the rankings is based on tuition, customization options within the degree program, both in content and format, and an overall "wow" factor, which highlights each program’s unique offerings and sets it apart from the pack.

Ashland University to Hold Event Featuring Harold Boughton, ‘The Teaching Coach’

Ashland University’s Burton Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship will host an event with author and former senior executive Harold “Bud” Boughton, who is known as “The Teaching Coach.” Boughton will speak on Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Ridenour Room of the Dauch College of Business and Economics. The event is free and open to the public.

The topic of Boughten’s presentation will be “Passionate Performance is Winning Performance.”

Butler, Pa. Resident Named Scholarship Recipient at Ashland University

Ashland University junior Laurena Shick, a resident of Butler, Pa., has been named recipient of the 2017-18 Business Advisory Council Endowed Scholarship presented by the Dauch College of Business and Economics at Ashland University. The scholarship is for $1,000.

Shick is majoring in fashion merchandising and marketing at Ashland University and expects to graduate in May of 2019. She is the daughter of Jean Shick and the late Terry Shick and is a 2015 graduate of Slippery Rock Area High School.

Ashland University Changes Name of Business Degree Program

The Dauch College of Business and Economics (COBE) Curriculum Committee at Ashland University has approved a proposal to change the University’s Information Systems (IS) degree to a Management Information Systems (MIS) degree.

The proposal, which was initiated by the faculty within Dauch College’s Accounting and Information Systems Department, was supported by COBE Dean Dr. Elad Granot and was passed earlier this month.

Ashland University MBA Program to Hold Ribbon Cutting at New Cleveland Site

Ashland University’s new One-Year International MBA Program held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug. 26 at its new location in Cleveland – the state-of-the-art Cleveland MBA Center located at 6393 Oak Tree Boulevard just off Rockside Road.

“This event celebrated Ashland University breaking new territory – offering a One-Year MBA degree in the Cleveland market for the first time,” said Dr. Elad Granot, dean of the Dauch College of Business and Economics. “The initial cohort for the MBA program held its first class from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and then broke for lunch and the ribbon cutting before going back to class from 1 to 5 p.m.”

Ashland University Sets Annual Ford Lecture and Luncheon

A conversation between Dr. Lucille Ford and Dr. Peter Linneman on the topic of “Inspiration, Hope and Love” will be the featured event of the 15th annual Dr. Lucille G. and L.W. Ford Distinguished Business Lecture and Luncheon at Ashland University.

The luncheon and discussion will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, Sept. 28, in Ashland University’s Myers Convocation Center. Ashland University Receives Affirmation of Dual ACBSP Accreditation

Ashland University’s Dauch College of Business and Economics has received word from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) that its dual accreditation has been approved with no areas of concern.

“We received a letter from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs saying that the Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners met earlier this year and reviewed the College’s Quality Assurance Report for our overall business programs and the separate accounting accreditation,” said Dr. Elad Granot, dean of the Dauch College of Business and Economics. “After this review, the board voted to accept our report without any notes or conditions.”
