Ashland University Launches New Online MBA Option

6/9/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University's Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program will offer a new online MBA option in the fall of 2011. The new online option complements the University's current MBA program degree offerings for working professionals.

Through the new online MBA, students will complete their degrees in two years with the same academic requirements as those taking the regular MBA degree offered by the Dauch College of Business and Economics at the main campus in Ashland and its centers located in Columbus, Massillon/Stark, Medina and Westlake.

Ashland University Slates Groundbreaking for Dwight Schar College of Nursing

6/7/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on June 16 for the new $15.5 million Dwight Schar College of Nursing facility located at the corner of Trimble Road and Marion Avenue in Mansfield.

The event, to be held at 1 p.m. near the parking lot on the west side of the property at 1020 S. Trimble Road, is free and open to the public.

Ashland Seminary's Commencement Ceremony Set for June 4

5/25/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland Theological Seminary will confer 168 degrees to the 166 members of its 2011 graduating class at the commencement ceremony to be held Saturday, June 4, at 10 a.m. in the John C. Myers Convocation Center on the Ashland University campus.

Dr. Renita J. Weems, vice-president of academic affairs at American Baptist College in Nashville, Tenn., will deliver the commencement address titled "Show Me Your Mantle."

Ashland University Receives $250,000 Grant from Richland County Foundation

5/19/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University has received a $250,000 grant from the Richland County Foundation. Ashland officials say the award will be used for the construction of the University's new Dwight Schar College of Nursing in Mansfield.

The grant, to be paid over a five-year period, will assist the University in constructing the $15.5 million academic and nursing building located at the Balgreen property at Trimble Road and Marion Avenue in Mansfield.

Ashland University Names New Vice President

5/19/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Scott Van Loo has been named the new vice president of Enrollment Management and Marketing at Ashland University. He will start at Ashland on May 31.

Van Loo, who comes to Ashland from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., replaces Colleen Murphy, who took a similar position at Greensboro College in Greensboro, N.C.

At Ashland, Van Loo will take over an enrollment management area that is in the process of being reorganized and is expected to include both undergraduate and graduate enrollment areas.

Former Logan Resident Appointed as Executive Director of International Programs

5/13/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University has appointed Dr. Nathan Myers, a former resident of Logan, Ohio, as the new executive director of International Programs. Myers has been serving as the interim executive director since January of this year.

Myers has served as an associate professor in the Department of Education Foundations at Ashland University for the past six years.

North Ridgeville Resident Named Ashland University's Graduate Student Honoree

5/12/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Maria Balotta, currently the 10th grade school counselor at James Ford Rhodes High School, was honored as Ashland University's Recognized Graduate Student Honoree at its Spring 2011 commencement exercises. One student is recognized as the top graduate student each year at the University's spring commencement.

Wellington Resident Named One of Ashland University's Co-Valedictorians

5/12/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Wellington resident Megan Williams was honored May 7 when Ashland University named its co-valedictorians during its Spring 2011 commencement exercises.

Williams graduated summa cum laude, gamma alpha kappa with a bachelor of science in education degree with a major in middles grades education.

A 2007 Firelands High School graduate, Williams is the daughter of Timothy and Donna Williams of Wellington. The valedictorian achieved a 4.0 grade point average. Twinsburg resident Ashley Bissell was honored as the other co-valedictorian.
