Ashland University Department of Recreational Services Holds Community Sports and Activities Camp

4/11/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University's Department of Recreational Services will be hosting a Community Sports and Activities Camp during the summer months.

This is a weeklong camp for children ages 5 to 12 that will provide them the opportunity to participate in various sports and activities that will teach them teamwork, enhance fundamental sports skills, and emphasize the importance of physical activity in living a healthy life.

Ashland University Department of Recreational Services Hosts Community Youth Basketball League

4/11/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University's Department of Recreational Services will be hosting a Community Youth Basketball League during the summer months.

This indoor basketball league is for the youth of the Ashland community and its surrounding areas. The youth basketball league will provide middle school age students the opportunity to play competitive basketball, continue to develop their skills, enhance teamwork and team play, and ultimately have fun. Teams are encouraged to sign up as well as free agents looking to find a team.

Ashland University Department of Recreational Services Sets Community Adventure Week

4/11/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University's Department of Recreational Services will be hosting a Community Adventure Week during the summer months.
With each day comes a new adventure. Children of ages 5 to 12 are welcome to sign up for this weeklong camp. Campers will dive into new adventures encountering daily themes like Super Safari, Under the Sea, Outdoor Survival, Safety First, Knights and Princesses, or Space is the Place.

Ashland University Department of Recreational Services Hosts Community Learn to Swim Program

4/11/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University's Department of Recreational Services will be hosting a Community Learn to Swim Program during the summer months. The Learn-to-Swim offers something for everybody. There are six different levels of the program including; Babies, Preschool, Level One, Level Two, Adult Beginner, and Adult Intermediate.

Ashland University to Host Accent on Women Day

4/8/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Accent on Women, Ashland University's fourth annual women's day on campus, will be held on May 6 in the Dauch College of Business and Economics.

Area residents are invited to join Ashland alumnae, spouses of trustees, mothers of current students and other friends of the University for a day of short educational sessions on a variety of topics, running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Ashland University Sets Numerous Music Recitals for Semester's End

4/8/11 ASHLAND, OH -- The end-of-the-semester rush begins with numerous student recitals presented by the Ashland University Department of Music. From junior and senior recitals to various student ensembles and an honors recital, all of the following recitals will be held in the Center for the Arts' Elizabeth Pastor Recital Hall and are free and open to the public.

Ashland University's Maplerock Jazz Festival Announces 2011 Lineup

4/6/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University's award-winning Jazz program has released the schedule for the 2011 Maplerock Jazz Festival slated for Friday, April 29.

Along with free performances by six area high school jazz ensembles in the afternoon, the event presents a main stage concert at 7:30 p.m. in Hugo Young Theatre on the Ashland University campus featuring guest artists Paul Ferguson, trombone; Marc Piane, bass; Bobby Sanabria, Latin percussion; and Bobby Selvaggio, saxophone.

Ashland Theological Seminary's Dr. David Mann Receives Award

4/5/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Dr. David Mann, director of the Midwest Counseling program and professor of counseling at Ashland Theological Seminary, has been chosen to receive the Dr. Dwight L. Arnold Outstanding Alumnus Award for 2011.

This award is being presented by the Kent State University Counseling and Human Development Program in recognition of Dr. Mann's contributions to the profession of counseling. The award will be presented to Mann by Kent State's Dr. Donald Bubenzer at this year's Chi Sigma Iota banquet on April 15.

Award-Winning Writer to Present Lectures at Ashland Theological Seminary

4/5/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Award-winning writer Dr. Scott Moreau will present a series of lectures on "The Missional Church" at Ashland Theological Seminary on April 26 and 27. The lectures are open to the public and will be held in the Ronk Memorial Chapel located on the Seminary campus.

On Tuesday, April 26, at 10:45 a.m., Moreau will speak about "What Do Pastors Need to Know about Tomorrow's Mission?" At 7 p.m. that evening, he will speak on "Short Term Takeover." On Wednesday, April 27, at 9:30 a.m., he will speak on "Missional Incarnational Mishmash."

Ashland University to Host Ramadan Road Trip Program

4/5/11 ASHLAND, OH -- On Tuesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in the Hawkins-Conard Student Center Auditorium, Ashland University will host a unique program that will highlight the adventure of Aman Ali (better known for his comedic appearances on CNN, HBO, ABC News, and NPR) and Bassam Tariq as they traveled to 30 mosques in 30 states within 30 days.

Immediately following the presentation, a discussion with Ali will follow in the Eagles' Landing of the Hawkins-Conard Student Center. This event is free and open to the public.
