Ashland University's Spectrum Series to Host Comedy Act

9/16/10 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University's Spectrum Arts and Lectures Series continues on Oct. 1 when comedians Randy and Jason Sklar will perform at 8 p.m. in Redwood Hall.

Ashland University Senior and Loudonville High School Graduate Receives Grant

9/15/10 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University senior and Loudonville High School graduate Karie Charlton was recently awarded a $3,350 grant from the Ohio EPA's Environmental Education Fund.

The EPA's Environmental Education Fund was created to encourage education in environmental science and engineering, and to provide funds for above-average undergraduates.  The scholarship is awarded to students based on grade-point average, unique contributions to the field, and extracurricular activities.

The Coburn Gallery at Ashland University Sets Gallery Talk Back

9/15/10 ASHLAND, OH -- The Coburn Gallery at Ashland University is presenting its first Gallery Talk Back of the fall semester on Oct. 7 at 5:30 p.m. during the opening reception for the Classical Methods, Contemporary Vision photography exhibition.

Cleveland resident Herbert Ascherman Jr., who is serving as a curator of the photography exhibition, is the featured artist during the Talk Back. The talk back sessions will last approximately 30 to 45 minutes and are free and open to the public. Audience participation is encouraged.

Ashland University Environmental Lecture Series to Focus on Invasive Species

9/15/10 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University's 2010-2011 Environmental Lecture Series on "Invasive Species" will open on Sept. 30 when Dr. Don Cipollini, professor of biological sciences and director of the environmental sciences Ph.D. program at Wright State University, will speak on "Garlic mustard: Impacts, mechanisms of invasion, and hope for control."

All four lectures in the series will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Hawkins-Conard Student Center Auditorium and are free and open to the public.

Ashland University's Dauch College Hosts Presentation

9/14/10 ASHLAND, OH -- The Dauch College of Business and Economics, along with the National Association of Women Business Owners, is hosting a presentation from Amanda Sage, owner of Gong Gong Communications, on "The Importance of Social Networking in Business."

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Monday, Sept. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Dauch College of Business and Economics Ridenour Center.

Ashland University Begins 2010-2011 Academic Year with Large Incoming Class

9/13/10 ASHLAND, OH -- While official numbers will not be available from the registrar's office until later this semester, it appears that Ashland University boasts one of the largest freshman classes in recent years and continues to bring in better academically qualified students.

"This is a very strong freshman class for us and we are very impressed with the quality of students and their involvement on the campus," said Colleen Murphy, vice president of marketing and enrollment management.

Ashland University's Eagle Investment Group Adds Third Fund

9/13/10 ASHLAND, OH -- In response to the growth and success of Ashland University's Eagle Investment Group, the University's Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees has granted a third fund for the selected finance majors to manage.

Students in Ashland's Eagle Investment Group were first offered the chance to gain practical experience by managing the University's investments in January of 2000 and have managed a portion of the University's investment portfolio ever since.

Ashland University Bookstore to Offer Story Time

9/10/10 ASHLAND, OH -- The Ashland University Bookstore, Youth and Literacy Team and Peers for Animal Welfare (PAW) invite those in the community to meet Clifford, the Big Red Dog, on Saturday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. in the Ashland University Bookstore.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will include a reading of several short stories from the Clifford series as well as Clifford-themed events. Give-a-ways will include balloons, cookies, coloring sheets and bookmarks, and each child will have the opportunity to have his or her picture taken with Clifford.
