Seminary's Commencement Ceremony Set for June 5

6/1/10 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland Theological Seminary will confer 201 degrees to members of its 2010 graduating class at the commencement ceremony to be held Saturday (June 5) at 10 a.m. in the John C. Myers Convocation Center on the Ashland University campus.

Dr. T. DeWitt Smith Jr., president of the Progressive National Baptist Convention Inc., will deliver the commencement address titled "Good Neighbor Lessons for God's Church."

Ashland University Recreation Center to Host Dive-in Movie

6/1/10 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University's Department of Recreational Services will present "Alice in Wonderland" (2010) as its Summer Dive-In Movie on Saturday, June 26, at 7 p.m.

The movie provides an opportunity for people to relax in the pool by floating in an inner tube while watching the movie. The movie is open to everyone. The cost is $5 per person and snacks will be sold for $1 each during the movie.

Lake Erie Crushers Add Ashland University's Dr. Curt Ickes as Player Development Specialist

6/1/10 ASHLAND, OH -- Dr. Curt Ickes, associate professor of psychology at Ashland University, has been added as player development specialist to the staff of the Lake Erie Crushers baseball team, the 2009 Frontier League champions.

Ickes teaches clinical and sport psychology courses at Ashland University as well as maintaining a private practice. A graduate of Northwestern High School, Ickes earned an undergraduate degree at Ashland University before receiving graduate degrees from the University of Akron and Kent State University.

Ashland University's Coburn Gallery Exhibition to Feature Work of Cuyahoga Falls Artists

5/27/10 ASHLAND, OH -- The Coburn Gallery at Ashland University will be hosting a summer art exhibition that will open with a reception on June 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. for the artists Lindsay Scypta, Sandra Holata and Donald R. Miller. Admission to the exhibition is free and the exhibition runs through July 16.

The Brutality Fields is the sixth in a series of installations by Holata and Miller detailing a journey, together and individuals, of truth, hope, despair and redemption.

5/26/10 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University's Morgan Center for Entrepreneurial Studies will be holding the sixth Young Entrepreneurs @ Ashland camp July 19-23. Offered during the summer at Ashland University, the week-long day camp is a comprehensive, hands-on, academic program that immerses students in business, leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Ashland University Schar College of Education Receives 'Glowing' NCATE Report

5/14/10 ASHLAND, Ohio --The Ashland University Schar College of Education has been recognized as one of the elite teacher education schools in the country after receiving all positive marks following its continuing accreditation review by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the organization responsible for professional accreditation of teacher education.

Department of Recreational Services to Hold Youth Sports and Activities Summer Camp

5/12/10 ASHLAND, Ohio --Ashland University's Department of Recreational Services will be hosting a Sports and Activities Summer camp during the summer months. The first session begins June 21 - 25. The second session is from July 12-16; and the final session takes place August 2-6. Camps are held between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. with extended care available.

The camps are open to any youth between the ages of 5 and 12. Campers will have fun filled days where they will participate in team building and sports activities, rock climbing, arts and crafts, and will enjoy time in the pool.
