Ashland University Scholar to Speak on Christian Zionism

10/21/10 ASHLAND, OH -- Dr. Elizabeth Phillips, visiting scholar in the Department of Religion at Ashland University, will speak on the role of Christian Zionism in supporting and expanding settlements in the Occupied Territories on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Hawkins-Conard Student Center Auditorium. The Department of Religion and the Ashland Center for Nonviolence are sponsoring the event.

CROP Walk to be Held Oct. 24 in Ashland

10/20/10 ASHLAND, OH -- On Sunday, Oct. 24, the Hunger Team of Ashland University's Community Care will help sponsor the CROP (Communities Reaching out to Overcome Poverty) Hunger Walk in Ashland.

The walk starts at 2:30 p.m., with registration beginning at 2 p.m. The walking route starts and ends at Christ United Methodist Church, 1140 Claremont Ave., in Ashland. Walkers may walk either one or six miles and everyone is invited to walk.

Ashland University Presenting Handel's Messiah; Traditional Holiday Masterpiece Featuring Many Soloists

10/20/10 ASHLAND, OH -- The Department of Music at Ashland University is proud to present the holiday masterpiece George Frideric Handel's "Messiah" performed by the Ashland University Choir, Ashland Area Chorus and Ashland Chamber Orchestra with Dr. Rowland Blackley as conductor on Sunday, Nov. 7, at 2:30 p.m. in Hugo Young Theatre.

Ashland University MFA Program Hosts Open House and Reading by Mark Irwin

10/20/10 ASHLAND, OH -- The Ashland University Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Program will host an open house Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 5:30 p.m. in the Myers Convocation Center. The open house will feature a brief presentation about the MFA program, a question-and-answer session, and a complementary dinner. Ashland University to Celebrate Community Service Week

10/19/10 ASHLAND, OH -- The Center for Community Service at Ashland University has scheduled a number of events for students as well as faculty and staff members as part of its "Calling All Volunteers" Community Service Week Oct. 23-30.

The week of special events begins on Make-A-Difference Day, Saturday, Oct. 23. Students will be assisting with a variety of projects throughout the community, including leaf raking for senior citizens.

Coburn Gallery at Ashland University to Host Sculpture Exhibition

10/15/10 ASHLAND, OH -- The Coburn Gallery at Ashland University will be hosting a sculpture exhibition titled "Resilience" by Michigan artist Anne Mondro. This exhibition will open on Thursday, Nov. 4, with a reception set for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondro also will present an artist lecture on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 9:30 a.m. in the Ronk Lecture Hall in the Schar College of Education Building on the Ashland campus.

Ashland University's Spectrum Series to Feature Golden Dragon Acrobats

10/15/10 ASHLAND, OH -- The final Spectrum event of the fall semester will be held Nov. 16 when the Golden Dragon Acrobats will perform at 7:30 p.m. in Hugo Young Theatre inside the Center for the Arts.

The Golden Dragon Acrobats represent the best of a time honored tradition that began more than 25 centuries ago. World renowned impresario Danny Chang and choreographer Angela Chang combine award-winning acrobatics, traditional dance, spectacular costumes, ancient and contemporary music and theatrical techniques to present a show of breathtaking skill and spellbinding beauty.
