9/12/13 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University’s Founders School for Continuing Education held an open house on Thursday at its new downtown location at 121 W. Main St. in Ashland. The event, which included a ribbon cutting ceremony organized by the Chamber of Commerce, featured a welcome by Dr. Dwight McElfresh, dean of the Founders School, as well as remarks by AU President Dr. Fred Finks, AU Provost Dr. Frank Pettigrew and Ashland Mayor Glen Stewart.
Those attending were given tours of the new facility, which was opened earlier this year.
The Founders School of Continuing Education provides programs and services for non-traditional students in unique, innovative and collaborative environments. Programs offered by the Founders School on Main range from non-degree certificates to degree opportunities geared toward the needs of working adults as well as numerous workshops and classes for educators that can be used for licensure renewal.
In addition, the Founders School coordinates all post-secondary and dual credit opportunities for high school students wanting a college experience.
The Founders School’s Professional Development Services is the largest provider of graduate credit workshop offerings in the state and served more than 16,000 educators last year. These services are provided through the main campus as well as the Columbus Center, Massillon Center, Elyria/Cleveland Center and the Southwest Center in Cincinnati.
