Maria Sargent

Dr. Maria Sargent teaches Early Childhood undergraduate and graduate courses in behavior intervention and biomedical issues. Dr. Sargent is a nationally recognized expert in early childhood and early intervention. Recently, Dr. Sargent has been asked to write a series of books and a nationwide curriculum on this topic and to develop a line of toys with a neurological base.

Dr. Lance Kaltenbaugh

Dr. Lance Kaltenbaugh, associate professor of sport management, joined Ashland University in 2000. His areas of expertise include campus recreation and therapeutic recreation. He received the Academic Mentor Award in 2006 and has been nominated as the Outstanding Male Faculty Member in 2007. Dr. Kaltenbaugh serves as the internship coordinator for the sport management and exercise sciences majors. He has a Bachelor of Education and Master of Education degrees in therapeutic recreation and recreation management from The University of Toledo and a Ed.D. in educational leadership from The University of Akron.

Dr. Allison Dickey

Dr. Allison Dickey, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Inclusive Services and Exceptional Learners, joined the Ashland University faculty in 2003. Her areas of expertise include disabilities, special education and teacher preparation. She holds a bachelor of science degree in specific learning disabilities, a master of education degree in varying exceptionalities and a doctor of education degree in curriculum and instruction, all from the University of Central Florida.

Dr. James Chapple

Dr. James Chapple, Assistant Professor, joined Ashland University in 2003. He was a recipient of an Academic Mentor Award in 2009. His areas of expertise include disabilities, working with children with disabilities and including children with disabilities in the general education classroom. Chapple holds a master of science degree from Bowling Green State University, a bachelor of science degree from Miami University and an Ed.D. degree from Ashland University.
