Dr. Lee Wetherbee

Dr. Lee Wetherbee is a professor of counseling at the Ashland University Theological Seminary.

The ongoing gift of mentoring and training Clinical Counseling students is something Dr. Wetherbee counts among his most fulfilling achievements in life. He is the type of professor whose students readily sing his praises. In particular, Dr. Wetherbee is a great communicator in the classroom, using a balance of information, dialogue, humor, and modern-day examples. He also makes a point to engage students outside the classroom.

Dr. Wetherbee's gift of humor is a blessing to those who encounter him on a daily basis. He sees the hilarious side of every situation, and his optimism is contagious. Dr. Wetherbee asserts that believers need to be the most joyous people on the planet, and he certainly falls in that category.

Dr. Wetherbee and his wife, Faye, met as juniors in high school and have been married for over 35 years — years which he describes as "glorious"! The Wetherbees have two grown children and are now enjoying their first grandchild, Emma. They also have a bevy of pets to keep them hopping: two dogs named Frank and Beans, Jane the cat, and a parakeet named Kiwi.

One of Dr. Wetherbee's top interests is coffee, in all its forms, as evidenced by his countless coffee- and espresso-brewing machines. He will readily admit to being an unrepentant coffee snob. Dr. Wetherbee's other hobbies include cycling, exercise, and music, particularly jazz and blues. He is a member of multiple worship teams at his church, and in the privacy of his own home, he loves to wail on his guitar as loudly as possible!
