9/6/16 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University’s Catering Program, which has a long history of recognition, added another honor when it received a silver medal, the second highest honor, in the 2016 Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards for its online catering menu in the small school division.
The already well-recognized catering program was honored in The National Association of College & University Food Services’ (NACUFS) national publication, as published in the 2016 Summer Edition of Campus Dining Today.
In this category, online menus were judged on multiple criteria that included the design and structure of the online menu, the food options and presentation. Points also were awarded for a menu’s consideration of special dietary concerns, such as allergies.
According to General Manager of Catering and Conference Services Jim Misel, the award is a reflection of the hard work and pride Ashland University puts into its catering program. A new catering website was launched in April 2016, which contributed to winning the award.
When asked to name the biggest reason for the menu’s success, Misel claimed it was the collaboration of many people, including Head Catering Chef Brent Cline, Catering Service Manager Carrie Gough and Office Coordinator for Auxiliary Services Sabrina Urman.
“There were so many hands in on renovating the menu,” Misel said, noting that really contributed to the menu’s attractive display.
