Ashland University Coburn Gallery Announces Exhibition Awards

5/21/19 ASHLAND, Ohio – The Coburn Gallery at Ashland University has announced its awards for the regional juried exhibition featuring 20 members of the Ashland Community Art League. The juror for the exhibition was gallerist and artist Marsha Gray Carrington from Sandusky, Ohio.

An opening reception was held on Friday, May 17, with $450 in awards being announced, including Best in Show for Marty Bossler Lee’s acrylic painting titled “Remnants of Night”; first place for MP Marion’s handmade paper landscape titled “Trackless Crossings”;  second place for Peggy Stover’s watercolor titled “Three Amigos”; and five juror honorable mentions to Irene Maginniss for her fused glass “Landscape Sampler,” Betz Richards for her colored pencil “Horses of Monatana,” Pat Edwards for her watercolor “Red Onion,” Susan Shafer for her acrylic on limestone clay “Offshore in Winter,” and Barbara Morejon for her felted wool “Captured Moment.”

All artworks and awards were selected by the juror.

The exhibition, which showcases local artistic talent in the Ashland community and runs through June 16, includes local artists Susan Shafer, Mary J Ferretti, Debra Akers, Nancy Dupre, Diane Kaye, Marty Lee Bossler, Cynthia C. Petry, Barb Morejon, Betty Perry, Nancy Pierce, Betz Richards, Caryl Richmond, Peggy Stover, Jan Wells, MP Marion, Irene Maginniss, Lisa Covington, Bea North and Robin Roberts.
