Ashland University FCA hosts NFL veteran Ray McElroy on Nov. 19

11/09/2019 ASHLAND, Ohio -- The Ashland University Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host former NFL defensive back Ray McElroy, who will share his testimony Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 9 p.m. in the Lower Chapel of the Jack and Deb Miller Chapel, 456 College Ave. The event is free and open to both students and the public.

McElroy spent six seasons in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions and currently serves as team chaplain for the Bears. A Chicago native who still holds track records at Proviso West High School,  McElroy is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University, where he was a four-year starter at cornerback for the Panthers and a third team All-American before being drafted by the Colts in the fourth round.

Now a licensed minister with a master’s degree in theology, McElroy is the founder of A Ray of Hope on Earth, a nonprofit focused on empowering youth, changing lives and making a difference through school tours, biblical and educational programs and youth football camps.
