Ashland University to Host Accent on Women

4/12/10 ASHLAND, Ohio --Accent on Women, Ashland University's third annual women's day on campus, will be held on May 7.

Area residents are invited to join Ashland alumnae, spouses of trustees, mothers of current students and other friends of the University for a day of short educational sessions on a variety of topics, running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Morning breakout sessions set for 9:15 a.m. will include "Finding Your Inner Child & Your Entrepreneurial Spirit" by Kris Hovsepian, assistant professor of business administration, and "Get Connected with Online Networking" by Steve Kaufman, education technology specialist.

Sessions at 10:15 a.m. will include "Do It Yourself Curb Appeal" by Susie (Campbell) Quinn '67, general manager of Willo'Dell Nursery Garden Inc.; and "The Sandwich Generation: Looking Beyond the Obvious Needs of Seniors," by Bonnie Jablonowski '07 MBA, executive director of Caretenders.

At 11:15 a.m., breakout sessions will include "Fashion Focus: Sophistication at Any Age" by Dr. Nancy A. Morris, associate professor of Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) with students from FCS Course 416 Fashion Merchandising; and "Dispelling Wellness-ness" by Dr. Beth Patton, CHES, assistant professor of sport sciences.

A lunch in Ashland University's Accent Room will be followed by a 1:15 p.m. presentation titled "Going Green: A Practical Approach in Your Home" by Dr. Soren Brauner, professor of biology/toxicology, and Dr. Patricia Saunders, associate professor of biology/toxicology.
The planning committee for the event is comprised of Holly Finks '89, Ashland University First Lady; Jill Segrist Charlton '82, assistant director of Alumni & Parent Relations; Margaret Ertl Pomfret '97, director of Alumni & Parent Relations; Linda Swanson '99, assistant director of prospect research & proposals; and Jennifer Polley Webb '97, director of Major Gifts & Endowed Scholarships.
