5/8/19 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University has been ranked as the second best online college in Ohio by EDsmart.org, a nationally recognized publisher of college resources and rankings.
EDsmart.org’s 2019 edition of the Best Online Colleges in Ohio ranked the top 10 accredited online programs based on four data points in three categories: affordability (financial aid and net price), student satisfaction (retention rate) and student outcome (four-year graduation rate).
“We are very proud to have AU ranked as the second best online college in the state of Ohio,” said AU Interim Provost Dr. Todd Marshall. “Ashland University has embraced online learning and this has opened our doors to a more inclusive student body – from working professionals and stay-at-home individuals to those who may not be able to commute to a physical campus -- and we are proud to offer some of the best combinations of online programs available anywhere in the country today.”
Marshall added he also is proud of the fact that Ashland’s online programs stress the same rigor as AU’s traditional classroom programs.
The EDsmart.org’s ranking notes that “Offering both online and hybrid courses, Ashland University encourages online learners to work collaboratively with academic leadership, faculty, and staff to continuously improve the University’s online offerings. Online students also reap the benefits of the school’s many accreditation bodies, including CAEP, CACREP, ACBSP, CSWE, and NASM. Further, Ashland University has collaborated with Ohio eTutoring to provide free, online tutoring support for all of its enrolled students.”
Tyson Stevens, managing editor of EDsmart, said, “As online college classes become more prevalent, it is important to recognize the colleges and universities that go above and beyond. Our goal is to highlight these schools and their commitment to higher education.
“The Best Online Colleges in Ohio rankings allow students to compare accredited programs and find those that best fit their education interests and career goals,” Stevens continued. “Beyond providing affordable education, a college is not successful if it does not graduate its students, which is why EDsmart rankings place high value on outcomes, including graduation and retention rates.”
