12/18/18 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University was one of 73 Ohio employers recognized for healthy worksite practices by the Healthy Business Council of Ohio (HBCO). AU received the 2018 Healthy Worksite Bronze Level Award from the organization.
According to Ryan Hess, chair of the business council, this achievement demonstrates AU’s commitment to the health and well-being of its employees. “Your company’s exemplary efforts to provide employees with programs that encourage physical activity, better nutrition and the prevention or cessation of tobacco use are to be commended. As you know, these efforts will have far reaching implications not only for the health of your employees, but the health of your business as well,” Hess said in the congratulatory letter.
Dr. Deborah Sullivan, who serves as AU’s director of Campus Wellness, completed the application process for this award.
“This is the first year we applied for this recognition,” Sullivan said. “AU’s Campus Wellness initiative began in 2016. We were thrilled to receive this award after just three semesters of the program.”
Sullivan will receive the award at this year’s Healthy Worksite Awards presentation on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, at the Nationwide Conference Center of Columbus in Lewis Center, Ohio, as part of the Health Action Council of Ohio (HAC) Annual 2019 Conference.
