4/18/19 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University senior Jessica Syme of Seville, Ohio, has received the 2019 Student Manuscript Award from the national office of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) for her manuscript titled “Journey to my CMA.”
Syme, an accounting major at Ashland University, is a 2015 graduate of Ohio Virtual Academy. Her manuscript, which deals with her journey to receive her Certified Management Accounting certification, was the top one selected from submissions received throughout the United States.
“I am so pleased and so very grateful to hear that Jessica has been selected to receive the 2019 Student Manuscript Award,” said Dr. Victoria Kaskey, chair and associate professor of accounting at AU. “She is a very hard working and dedicated student who is committed to academic excellence on many fronts.”
Syme received a letter from Kerry Butkera, research & academics relations administrator for the IMA, telling her of the award.
“The IMA has selected you to receive the 2019 Student Manuscript Award for your fine manuscript titled, ‘Journey to my CMA.’ It is an honor for you to be selected as the top student winner from an outstanding group of candidates,” the letter noted.
Syme is invited to attend the awards luncheon on Sunday, June 18, at the IMA Annual Conference & Exposition at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, where she will be formally recognized. In addition, the final draft of her manuscript will be posted on the IMA website in the coming months.
