Ashland University Slates President's Convocation

9/1/10 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University invites area residents to attend the annual President's Convocation on Sunday, Sept. 12. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 4 p.m. in the University's Jack and Deb Miller Chapel, located on the corner of King Road and College Avenue.

With faculty adorned in academic regalia, the event will feature an address by Ashland University President Dr. Frederick Finks. His address is titled "Passion & Persistence, The Keys to Success."

The University Choir, under the direction of Dr. Rowland Blackley, professor of music, will perform the anthem "Since By Man Came Death" from Messiah and join the congregation for two hymns, "Earth & All Stars" and "Ye Servants of God, Your Master Proclaim."

Dr. Dan Lawson, dean of religious life, will extend greetings, provide the scripture reading and the benediction, while Pastor Dave Sherwood from Fives Stones Community Church will offer the invocation. Provost Dr. Frank Pettigrew will introduce the speaker. Dr. Timothy Guenther, university organist, will provide the opening and closing voluntaries.
