Ashland University Theatre Major Stages Unique Musical Theatre Revue

11/1/12 ASHLAND, Ohio - Ashland University musical theatre major Johanna Regan (Killingworth, CT) is sealing her college career with a unique musical theatre performance scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the University's Studio Theatre.

As fulfillment for her senior theatre project, Regan has produced this show featuring herself in the lead role. Titled “The Art of Selling Yourself,” Regan’s concept for the show originated from the perception in the theatre world that all actors are seen to have a specific "type."

But what happens when someone wants to break the norm? Regan has been playing the same parts for a long time, but now she wants to start auditioning for all roles. She wants to show the world that she can play any role regardless of the characters gender or skin color. With some help from fellow students, will she succeed or will she accept her previously determined "type?" “The Art of Selling Yourself” promises to be full of laughs and include musical favorites from “Dreamgirls,” “Memphis,” “The Wiz” and many more.

In addition to Regan, other cast members include Emily Jeppesen, Candice McDermott and Christian Neely. The production team is led by director Nathaniel Sayatovich with Kelli Lennox as stage manager, David Wagar as lighting designer and Jacob Poiner as light board operator.

This event is free and open to the public, but is currently sold out. However, the theatre department's waiting list policy will apply. For interested patrons, the Ashland University box office will begin a waiting list on-site one hour prior to the performance. If seats are available when the show is ready to begin, patrons will be seated accordingly from the order of the waiting list. There is no guarantee that waiting list patrons will be seated, but many have been accommodated in the past.
