Ashland University Theatre Student in Running for Role on AMC's Mad Men

7/27/10 ASHLAND, OH -- An Ashland University theatre student is competing for a guest appearance on AMC's Mad Men television show and is requesting that people cast a vote for him.

Aaron Arnold, a sophomore theatre major from Chardon, is currently one of the top three contenders for a role on AMC's Mad Men show. The voting, which is part of a contest sponsored by American Movie Classics Co. and Banana Republic, will continue through Sept. 17.

"My dad saw this and because I'm a theatre major and planning to move to L.A. to be in film after I graduate, I thought this would be a great opportunity for me," Arnold said.

Arnold said people cast votes for entrants who have submitted photos of themselves showing their own Mad Men or Mad Women style. People can vote for Arnold by going to the website at:

A 2009 graduate of Chardon High School, Arnold is the son of Laura and William Arnold, 10540 Sawmill Drive, Chardon.

According to the AMC Mad Men website, the top 10 male and top 10 female submissions receiving popular votes will become semi-finalists and Matthew Weiner, the creator and executive producer of Mad Men, will then select the grand prize winner from the semi-finalists.

The grand prize winner will be able to participate in a single episode walk-on role in season five of Mad Men and also will receive a $1,000 Banana Republic gift card, according to the website.
