“One hundred years ago, Aug. 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment was ratified, securing for women in the United States the right to vote. Just one hundred years ago!” reads the statement from Roggenkamp. “Celebrations commemorating this event have been taking place all over the country. Interested in doing our part, Patricia, Judy and I worked to bring together selected women artists to respond to the idea of women and resilience.
“Twenty-two women joined us in this exhibition sharing previous works that fit the theme or newly conceived works that built upon threads that were already present in their artwork. In this election season, this anniversary reminds us all of the right, the privilege and the responsibility to vote. We hope you all do your part.”
The Coburn Art Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and is free and open to the public. New COVID-19 safety protocols include a maximum of 15 visitors in the gallery at one time and groups no larger than 5.
