AU Athletics Soars To No. 9 In Directors’ Cup Standings

3/14/19 ASHLAND, Ohio -- Earning the second-most winter-season points to date in NCAA Division II has allowed Ashland University's athletic department to make quite the move up the 2018-19 Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup standings.

Thanks to a men's indoor track and field national championship, an 11th-place finish by the women's indoor track and field team, and a 27th-place showing by wrestling at nationals, Ashland has climbed up to the No. 9 spot in the nation in the first winter Directors' Cup standings reveal on Thursday (March 14) morning.

Ashland has the second-most D-II winter points through the first release (213) to only Adams State (242), and has 288 points so far in 2018-19.

The next release for the 2018-19 Division II Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup standings will be March 28.

In 2017-18, Ashland finished 12th in the nation in the Directors' Cup. Ashland had a run of eight consecutive top-10 finishes from 2007-08 to 2014-15.

The Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
