8/1/16 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ronald Mickler Jr. of Medina has been hired as the new director of academic support for Ashland University. He will start in his new role on Aug. 15.
Mickler has 19 years of professional experience within higher educational institutions, specializing in academic advising and student services within undergraduate and graduate programs.
“We are very excited to have Ronald join Ashland University in this role,” said AU Provost Dr. Eun-Woo Chang. “He has proven abilities in strategic planning, enrollment management, retention initiatives, managing projects, improving efficiency of operations, assessing the needs of incoming students, and training and assessing faculty and staff. He will be an asset to AU.”
Mickler joins Ashland from Cleveland State University, where he served as assistant director of Graduate Business Programs since 2013. In this role, he directly oversaw the administration of all Graduate Business Programs and assisted upper administration and faculty with evaluations of effectiveness and provided recommendations for alternative work methods, procedures and staffing.
Prior to that, Mickler served Cleveland State as academic adviser and recruiter for the College of Business and the School of Nursing from 2002 to 2013. In this role, he was responsible for the selection, interviewing, training and assigning of work related duties for seven staff members of the Academic Support (Tutoring) Center.
Mickler has a Master of Education in Adult Learning & Development and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management, both from Cleveland State University.
He has received a number of professional awards, including Honorary Membership into Beta Gamma Sigma in recognition of professional achievement, the Community Contribution Award for providing customer service to students at Cleveland State University, the Certificate of Achievement for outstanding leadership, and the Certificate of Excellence for outstanding leadership and contributing to the overall quality of Cleveland State University.
