3/4/19 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University’s Corporate Connections Department will host a business workforce development event on March 12 that will feature a visit from Welcoming City. This event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Room 115 of the Dauch College of Business and Economics on the AU campus.
The mission of Welcoming City, which is based on Columbus, is to help new Americans find work in Central Ohio. They also provide English as a Second Language and workforce communication and training.
Welcoming City understands the importance of working with receiving communities to address the knowledge gaps in the areas relating to the U.S. immigration policy, world cultures, etc. The goal of working with the general public is to promote a smooth integration of New Americans into the mainstream workforce.
Dr. Dan Lawson, associate vice president and chief corporate relations officer at AU, will serve as emcee for the event. “These people focus on workplace development and this event will feature a discussion about bringing in people to live here and take those vacant jobs,” Lawson said.
