9/17/18 ASHLAND, Ohio – Due to its success last spring, the Ashland University Department of Theatre and Alpha Psi Omega (APO) theatre honor society are producing another 24-Hour Theatre Project this fall. The performance of an original script written and produced within 24 hours will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in Ashland University's Studio Theatre.
A limited number of tickets are available for this free performance, which is open to the public. Patrons can secure their seats by calling the Ashland University Box Office at 419.289.5125.
More than 30 Ashland University students will be participating in this project, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28. Within the next 24 hours, these students will write, audition, memorize, design and rehearse a play that will be publicly performed at 7:30 p.m. the following day – Sat., Sept. 29.
Founded by last year’s graduating senior Megan Harvey of Medina, the reins have been transferred to APO senior member Naomi Sims of Grapevine, Texas, who will serve as the producer and leader of the writing team to manage her team leaders, including: Alejandro Ridolfi of Middleburg Hts., directing; Nik Demers of Shelby and Eric Breeden of Medina, stage management; Ridolfi and Drew Berlin of Barberton, lighting design; Berlin, costume design; Maya Rickard of Wooster, scenic design; Tristan Peterman of Canton, set construction; Holly Fongheiser of Rittman, sound design; Rachel Lowery of Elyria, properties; Brooke Moline of Toledo, hospitality; and Luqman Tarouti, marketing.
The excitement of this project is the anticipation of not knowing what will be performed for the audience, since everything will be created in a condensed amount of time. A normal production includes five to six weeks of rehearsal, while this group will be preparing in a single day.
